Love Those Tidbits!

Thank goodness it is Friday. And because of that, I am too happy to rant on anything, so I’ll share some random thoughts.

1. Hey, finally a reason to visit New Jersey besides Atlantic City and the beaches! Gas prices have fallen to under $2.00, the site of this left me misty-eyed.

2. The SEPTA strike is finally over, and traffic is much more manageable again. I am guessing that there probably is corruption in SEPTA (it seems like corruption runs rampant in businesses and companies that have no direct competition), so I’m wondering what, if anything, can be done to prevent these strikes that seem to loom over our heads every 4 years or so.

3. Ryk and I were talking the other day about a stupid topic – no surprise there. I thought I’d share it with you and see if you can help us answer this vital question – If a pack of clowns fought a pack of mimes, who would win?

4. I’m not sure if any of you heard this, but something monumental is going to happen at the Sixers game tonight. A new form of entertainment will grace the presence everyone in attendance at the Wachovia Center. A group called “The Beefcakes (I think) will perform. The interesting twist is that the Beefcakes are a group of obese men. I hope to see highlights of this.

1. Yeah, I saw that at the Lukoil at the burlington-bristol bridge gas was at 1.99.

2. Enslavement.

3. Clowns! No contest. (Clowns can use real weapons, mimes only have imaginary ones... stupid mimes, I hate mimes.)

4. In my best Eric Cartman voice:
"BEEFCAKE!"

Going over to Jersey is not worth it just for gas because you have to pay the $3 toll on the way back. But I always fuill up in Jersey if I'm there for other reasons.

SEPTA sucks!

Clowns win because they have bigger shoes to kick ass with.

I have tickets for the Sixers game tonight. No, I am not performing, though I probably should be.

** NJ beaches are a great reason to visit anywhere else on the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts.
** AC is a great reason to visit Las Vegas.
** Boy am I glad gas companies voluntarily stopped price gouging ... wait, you say oil supply increased in the past month?

2. The SEPTA strike is finally over ... I am guessing that there probably is corruption in SEPTA ... so I’m wondering what, if anything, can be done to prevent these strikes.
** Corruption in SEPTA? Next you'll tell me there's corruption in Philadelphia City Hall (Motto: those FBI bugs are racist).
** An idea: end SEPTA's subsidies and charge riders rates based on actual costs and the actual market. Yeah, that'll happen.
** Allow private companies to provide transportation to/from major destinations, at bulk rates -- kinda like a private version of SEPTA's bus system, only efficient. Again, yeah, that'll happen (not that entrepreneurs aren't ready).
** Three Strikes And You're Out legislation.
** It's already illegal for federal workers to strike. Extend that to any public agency receiving federal tax dollars. You want to strike? Give up your federal subsidy or you're fired.

3. If a pack of clowns fought a pack of mimes, who would win?
** If it's on TV, we all lose.
** Unless by "clowns" you mean Mayor Street, T.O., Sean Penn, Pat Robertson, etc. -- then we all win if it's televised, and I'm rooting for the mimes. (Did I mention the Notre Dame leprechaun is basically a clown?)

4. (at the Sixers game tonight) A group called “The Beefcakes will perform ... I hope to see highlights of this.
** I have tickets for Sunday's game, and REALLY hope tonight is a one-time event.
** How many of them are, ahem, not attracted to the Sixers Dancers?
** You WANT to see "highlights"? Something you need to tell Sue?
