Weekly Homework Assignment

It's time once again for Mama Kat's Weekly Homework Assignment! There were more prompts about motherhood, which, of course, I don't qualify for. So I chose this prompt - Create a list of playground dos and don'ts.

When I was young (no, it wasn't before electricity, silly!), my elementary school had a playground that was all concrete - not a big deal, I guess. At the time, this playground included swings and monkey bars. At the time, this still wasn't a big deal - kids got hurt ... so what? I drove by my elementary school a few weeks ago and noticed the playground not having anything on it - no monkey bars, no swings, no basketball courts ... nothing. Can this really be considered a playground? Probably a good candidate for "Dope or Nope!"

I'm going to do the dos and don'ts from a young "Los" perspective:

Dos
1. Do learn how to swing left-handed - this helps at Glenolden school, as the building in "right field" is much closer than the fence in left field.
2. Do bring a baseball glove with you to the playground - it is MUCH easier to catch a tennis ball with the glove.
3. Do volunteer to push the girls when they are on the swings ... it'll pay dividends years in the future.
4. Do become friends with the kid who brought the football to school - he makes the teams, and if you're lucky, you'll be on his team (a.k.a. - the winning team).
5. Do eat your lunch quickly - this will afford more time on the playground at recess.

Dont's
1. Don't pick up and chew gum that's on the ground at a playground ... just don't.
2. Don't pick up that thing that looks like a balloon filled with creme - it's not.
3. Don't call the teacher a homo on the playground at recess - you could be held out of Field-Day.
4. Don't jump off of the swing at it's highest point - concrete hurts.
5. Don't slide down the sliding board backwards - good chance of cracking your head on said concrete.

From a Brit perspective?

Dos
1. Never use the school toilet. Your head will be flushed in it
2. Never bring your own equipment - pens, ruler etc etc they will be stolen - steal someone elses.
3. Do volunteer to push the girls into the pool at swimming lessons.
4. Bring the foot(soccer)ball.
5. Steal someones lunch at mid-morning break then all lunchtime is yours as you've already eaten.

Dont's
1. Don't pick up and chew gum that's on the ground at a playground ... just don't.
2. Don't pick up that thing that looks like a balloon filled with creme - it's not.
3. Don't call the teacher a queer on the playground at recess - you will have your trousers removed and be spanked - if you're lucky.
4. Don't jump out of any school windows, especially second floor upwards - concrete hurts.
5. Don't flash at the ugly girls.

Way to not be sore-headed about all the mom prompts! Your rules rock. :-) My kid took his football to school today.

I'm gonna give it a DOPE...dope that you still participated even though the prompts are focused on Motherhood and DOPE that you listed some very important playground rules. I say you create your own sign and place it outside all of your local playgrounds. ;)

Don't 4-5 explain a lot.
