Weekly Homework Assignment

It's time once again for Mama Kat's Weekly Homework Assignment! This week, I chose the following prompt: Describe a popular kids toy or show that you just don’t understand.

I gotta say, I've never understood the Teletubbies .... well, that's not entirely true ... once, when I was intoxicated, I remember watching an episode where the four (I think it's 4) teletubbies were hanging around this valley, and the valley began filling up with water. Then, a ship entered the valley, sailed around for a while, and then left. The sun, which was actually a baby-face, laughed and thought this was amusing.

The Teletubbies sat there and watched, as if they were fully expecting this. Then, they started communicating with each other in a language that I couldn't hope in a million years to decipher. Then, as the ship sailed away, the water evaporated, and the Teletubbies got up and left.

Ummm ... that was the ENTIRE episode. In a drunken stupor, I was hypnotized by it. But, if I was sober, I'd either change the channel in record time, or, if the remote was broken, I'd probably stick my foot through the television monitor.

I guess, I should focus on the "drunken-stupor" state I was in. Maybe babies or toddlers have similar "drunken-stupor-like" minds, and this is why they enjoy the Teletubbies ... just a thought.

Reminds me of the "Drunk or Kid?" game on 'How I Met Your Mother'. Basically you describe something stupid you did, and people have to guess if you did it while drunk or as a kid.

For example, this one time I tripped down some stairs and went to the ER because I burned my hand on a kerosene heater. Drunk or kid?

Sirgeb, I was going to say the same thing!!! I'm thinking drunk takes us back to being kids again. I'm also thinking that I never let my kids watch Teletubbies. Creepy.

I LOATHED the Teletubbies. Still do. It makes NO sense at all, there is nothing in there I find even remotley educational for children. Nothing.. brainwashing thatis what it is..

My mother in her 50's called me one day and said you gotta watch this show and I ran to turn it on and I said this with colored things running around in a hill and field with rabbits, and she was like isnt' it great???? and I was like NO.
we dont' see eye to eye a lot but when my son was born he wanted to watch it once and it was so lulling I fell asleep, maybe it has some trance affect either way it's weird...

Visiting from Mama Kats...

I do believe the first rule of Teletubbies is you must be drunk to understand it ... or under the age of 2.

Too funny! I've only seen that show once and I was not drunk or high so I immediately changed it.
