I signed up for Facebook sometime last March (I think) ... I think I had gotten an e-mail from somebody asking me to do so. After I signed up, I really didn't go back to it for abou 4-5 months, until I read that Facebook is being used in adult learning (I'm an instructional designer, after all). So, I decided to check it out again - see what the big deal was.
Amazingly enough, I reconnected with many friends I lost touch with for one reason or another ... high school friends, college friends, and a lot of other friends. Not only that, but I realized that I was connecting and getting updates on family members I hardly ever saw.
Then, one of my high school friends decided to put together a "high school class" group area ... not only did I find more friends, but plans were laid out for a high school happy hour ... which happened to have occurred last night. It seemed to me that more people showed up to this than some of our reunions. We had a great time telling old stories, reconnecting, and of course enjoying the beverages ... and this was possible all because of Facebook. Amazing ... truly amazing.
Chances are we'll be doing these happy hours on a more regular basis, which I think is a good thing.

That's awesome! I've connected with family I never talk to otherwise... so yeah, it's kinda nice.
Facebook is all the rage lately!! You must be having a blast reconnecting! :)

I doubt most of my old pals have a computer. Still gas powered in Oldham you know...;-)
Don't mind Facebook but get pissed off with all this poking and prodding stuff.
Alaina...maybe there's a reason you didn't talk to them eh? ;-) (I know I'm a cynical old bastard)
I agree it's pretty cool. Schue bugged me to sign up, and I was reluctant because I can barely keep up with 2 email accounts and a blog. But I did it anyway, and I've reconnected with people I haven't talked to in 25+ years. It really is quite amazing! ... babspeapod
i dont want to talk to anyone from my past, if i did i'd be talking to them now
EP, its all about looking at the skeezy pictures of the hot girls.
Your anti-facebook reasoning is exactly why I'm not going to my 10 year reunion. If I wanted to talk to you, I would.
