Weekly Assignment

The assignment I chose this week from Mama Kat's weekly list is to describe my latest obsession ... I've got a bunch, so this assignment was much easier said than done ... but somehow, I narrowed it down to this:

Up until a few days ago, I was absolutely obsessed with Lego Indiana Jones for the Nintendo Wii ... For those of you not familiar with this game (or the Lego video games in general), Lego took the three Indiana Jones movies (prior this past year's release) and "converted" them to a Lego game ... all the characters, scenes, plants, trees, and buildings are made out of Legos ... you basically have to go through all of the scenes of the movies as a Lego Indiana Jones character ... sounds simple enough.

But, after you "win" the game, in order to complete 100% of the game, you have to go back as different characters to "find" different treasures throughout the scenes. I spent 10 days on this game ... probably about 3-5 hours a day ... I obsessed over it ... I dreamt about it ... I theorized areas to find the treasures, and I surfed the internet to find "tricks" and "clues" about that game. Folks, that's obsession.

My wife is probably very, very happy that I'm finally finished the game ... next up, I might have to get Lego Batman (I completed Lego Star Wars earlier in the year).

Much fun blasting Zombies.

The last game I let myself get into like that was Nintendo "Doom64". That damn game took me a month to complete. I vowed myself off modern day video games at that point. I just play old time "quarter eaters" now.

My husband is addicted to World of Warcraft. Just when he has finally gotten bored, he will make a new character and start all over. I ask him how it could possibly be fun to do the same tasks all over again, to which he replies : Its from a different perspective with different skills.
You men && your games.

How funny... My kids LOVE the LEGO games...especially LEGO Batman!! But, up until now, they've only been able to play them on Nintendo DS; and NOW we have a Wii...so let the games BEGIN-- woo hoo!!!

I get like that with video games too! I'll start analyzing real life situations in the mindset of whatever strategizing techniques are used in the game...does that make ANY sense. I can't explain it. The worst is when you can't get it out of your dreams. UGH! I hate that...
