Weekly Homework Assignment

Seriously, if you haven't visited Mama Kat and partaken in her weekly homework assignment, you're missing out ... seriously.

This week, I chose to write about a stray animal I took in ... I'm probably taking some liberties with this, because the "stray" animal wasn't really a stray. You see, my buddy Bill and I were on our way to school one morning ... I'd say we were about 8 years old or so. Anyway, on our trek to elementary school, we stumbled upon (almost literally) a baby bunny, who had been abaondoned by its mother (at least we think it was abandoned).

We decided we would pick up the little bunny and take it to school with us ... the little thing looked so helpless. As we got to class, our teacher decided to help us take care of it, finding a shoe box, and a lamp to give it heat ... Fuzzball must've been scared to death (yeah, we named it Fuzzball ... got a problem with that?). The bunny survived the day, and we took it home to Bill's house.

Surprisingly, Bill's mom agreed to help us take care of it ... this bunny must've been a few weeks old tops ... certainly wasn't weened from its mommy yet. Bill's mom purchased some formula to mix with milk to nourish little Fuzzball. Bill and I had already put a plan in place that we'd both "house" little Fuzzball once it grew up.

Sadly, Fuzzball didn't survive the night, despite Bill and his mom's fervent attempts to care for the little ball of fluff. We ended up burying it in Bill's yard, complete with a full ceremony ... I'd like to think that Fuzzball at least didn't have to die alone or in fear ... poor guy.

If it wasn't abandoned at first, it was after you touched it, lol !

I am shocked -- shocked!! -- that you didn't use your first date story yet again here ... with you as the stray that Sue took in.

Those little bunnies just can't seem to make it without their mommies. It's sad.

(Came over from Mama Kat's Workshop) :)

Aw, such a sad story. It's nice to hear that the two of you tried to do everything you could for the little bun though. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. :(

Awww. Why is every stray animal dying?? This was not my intent.

And Jeff's comment is awesome. I think you should tie in your first date story with every post as well.

Maybe naming the cute little bunny something like Nails would have helped??? I have no problem with you naming it Fuzzball, but using "weened" in your post? Really??
