Song of the Week

What better song to bring in the summer than ... Will Smith's Summertime? It's an anthem to summer, specifically in Philly (what better place?). Sort of ironically, it samples Kool and the Gang's "Summer Madness." It has a really cool rhythmic beat to it, and just makes you feel like opening up one of those fire hydrants, and having an informal splash party.

It's hard to believe this song is already 18 years old ... back at this time, Smith was a rapper who was just cutting his teeth with television (Fresh Prince of Bel Air).

It's a song you want to hear when you are at an outdoor bar sipping on a beverage of your choice. It makes you groove, and if you know the song, but only some of the lyrics, you are free to belt out the lyrics you know in between long sips.

Not a Will Smith fan, and I think "sampling" should be outlawed. It basically guarantees someone's gonna have a hit, when they really didn't do shit. Sorry that rhymed.
