80's Corner

Parachute pants. Remember these? MC Hammer made them very popular (and probably ended up killing them) in his "Can't Touch This" video. Basically, it was as if a clothing designer had a lot of extra fabric left, and decided that pants needed to have enough room for a Basset hound in them. And yes, of course I wanted a pair when I was growing up (that's besides the point ... thanks mom for not giving in!).

These pants were best used for "crab dances" like the one Hammer used in said video. I guess it's not any sillier than wearing pants below the hips (or is it?).

I would take up a collection to see you in Hammer pants. Who's in?

I owned a pair of those pants. But I bought them in Paris, thereby making them fashionably acceptable. Now if I had bought them in, say, New Jersey, it'd be a different story entirely.

Ah, the parachute pant.

Nothing is worse than not pulling up your pants. Geez.
