80's Corner

The 1980's gave us "candy-rock," and "hair-metal" with bands like Cinderella, Poison, Motley Crue, Kix, and yes, even Bon Jovi. It seemed like the more hair and ripped jeans, the better the band.

I've always wondered what the true heavy metal bands of that era thought about the candy-rockers - you know the bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath. Was this the same way that bands like U2, the Stones, and Zeppelin felt of the candy-pop artists?

The only hair band I like is Cinderella. Gypsy Road is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

I'm more of a Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin kinda gal.

Gimme Slayer, Testament, Sabbath, Maiden or Gwar any day over those sissy glam bands. Couldn't stand them then, still can't them now.

That's EXACTLY the point I was gonna make. ALL of those "glam" bands "had their moments", but none really stood the test of time like the "Heavy hitters" that you mentioned. If you go back and watch the glam bands' videos NOW, they seem extremely DATED, unlike the Sabbath, Priest, and Maiden stuff (for the most part anyway.)

I'm quite sure the "Heavy Hitters" LOATHED the glam band scene.

Oh--I think we can all guess what the real metal bands thought of those hair bands.
